1. Family completes application form.

2. Family schedules interview with Intake Coordinator when application is completed. Intake Coordinator explains housing programs to family.

3. Family signs verification and release forms. Housing Authority photocopies documents submitted by family.

4. Housing Authority sends for police record on all adult members of family. Applicants will be denied if an adult member was arrested for crimes against person or property, or for any drug related activity in the last five years.

5. Housing Authority processes applicable non-citizen verifications and sends out third party verifications.

6. Housing Authority verifies landlord references and performs credit check on applicants interested in residing in a unit owned by Housing Authority.

7. Family placed on waiting list. If determined ineligible, a letter is sent to family notifying them of ineligibility, reason why and gives them the right to informal review.

8. Housing Authority determines waiting list bedroom size according to occupancy or subsidy standards.

9. Family selected from waiting list for program(s) they were interested in. (Public Housing, Section 8 New Construction and Housing Choice Voucher Program).

10. For units owned by Housing Authority, a staff member will show the family a unit if one is available and if the family is interest in the program. If interested, the family meets for an assessment.

11. For Housing Choice Voucher Programs, the family is contacted by a Section 8 Housing Specialist. The Section 8 Housing Specialist will conduct briefing and issue family housing voucher.

Note: Families are responsible for informing us of changes in address, phone number etc. while on the waiting list.
