Housing Choice Voucher Program Eligibility Requirements

Eligibility for a Section 8 voucher is determined by the Fond du Lac County Housing Authority.  It is based on the total annual income and family size and is limited to U.S. citizens and specified categories of non-citizens who have eligible immigration status.  In general, the family's income may not exceed 50% of the county median income in which the family chooses to live.  Median income levels are published by HUD and vary by location.  On this web site we have the current income limits by family size for Fond du Lac County in Wisconsin.

You would first need to complete an application to apply to our waiting list.  The waiting list ranges from 6 months to 24 months.  Once your name is reached on the waiting list, the Housing Authority will contact you by letter, collect information on family income, assets and family composition.  The Housing Authority will verify this information with other local agencies, your employer, bank, etc. and will use this information to determine program eligibility and the amount of rental assistance payment.

If your address, household composition or income changes, you need to notify us in writing of the change.  You may notify us of the change any of the following ways:  via e-mail, fax, mail or hand deliver to our office.  Our office will always contact you by mail at the mailing address we have on file.

Applicants should change their information on-line.

NOTE:  If we are unable to reach you, your name is removed from the waiting list.
